What's New at PON

In October of 2005, People of Note presented a music education workshop for teachers, parents and community volunteers entitled "Building Connections for a Better Education through Music" featuring Charlotte Diamond. Held at the Stratford School, Palo Alto campus, the workshop centered on interactive musical teaching methods for the classroom including songs and rhythms from other lands. Because of this workshop, many children are introduced to Charlotte¹s fresh and accessible music by teachers on the preschool or primary level.

Seeing Charlotte in person at our concerts gives children an opportunity to experience and participate in live music that is familiar and fun.

In the Spring of 2005, People of Note presented Music for Minors, Inc. with a check for $5000. Over the last 3 years, the local non-profit organization has been the recipient of $25,000 toward general operating expenses from People of Note. Music For Minors trains volunteer docents to teach music in elementary schools throughout San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties. People of Note funds also help subsidize programs in Title 1 schools. Funds go toward initial training, ongoing supervision and music education resources for the classroom.
